WHAT IS DURHAM GIRLS SUMMER BOOK CLUB?
The DURHAM GIRLS SUMMER BOOK CLUB began in the summer of 2020, in response to the isolation imposed by the pandemic. The initiative was so well received, we decided to host another summer of reading! A group of girls from various grades and schools around Durham have discussed, zoomed and voted their way to this year's book selections. Thanks to their hard work, we have landed on some amazing titles!....3 books with 5th-6th grade readers in mind and 3 titles geared toward 7th-8th grade readers. This summer, the girls will discuss the books together via Slack, Zoom and if we can swing it, maybe even an in-person gathering! Last year, we were so fortunate to engage with every author! We will keep our fingers crossed for this year, too! We are excited to convene the girls again this season, make new friends and discover the power of reading...TOGETHER!
HOW DO I PICK UP BOOKS?
Reserve a book by sending an email to bookclub@stronghertogether.org with your name, your 2021/2022 grade and school and which books you're interested in reading this summer. (Click on book covers above for more details about each book.) We will let you know when your book will be delivered to one of the following sites and where it will be.*
